Testing

Establishing and implementing international test method standards are critical to ensuring that compliance checks are performed in a consistent and reliable manner.

The IEC Technical Committee on Environment (TC-111) has developed a draft standard for testing of regulated substances in electrical and electronic products designed to demonstrate legal compliance of "x-free" products.  This document defines test procedures that will allow the electronics industry to determine the concentration of the regulated substances in products on a consistent, global basis.

The IPC-1065, Materials Declaration Handbook, also discusses destructive testing methods to assist printed circuit board manufacturers in gathering data to complete a materials declaration.
